The Galician surgeon Diego González Rivas fights against lung cancer and other pathologies in hospitals around the world. Its revolutionary Uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery (Uni-VATS) technique allows operating within the thoracic cavity through a small intercostal or subxiphoid incision, sometimes without requiring tracheal intubation or general anesthesia; facilitating home discharge for patients 24-48h after the intervention.
Known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda’s stunning scenery and warm, friendly people offer unique experiences in one of the most remarkable countries in the world. It is blessed with extraordinary biodiversity, with incredible wildlife living throughout its volcanoes, montane rainforest and sweeping plains.
This documentary shows the beautiful nature of the country, the kindness of the people and also how a team leaded by Dr Gonzalez Rivas performed the first masterclass in Uniportal VATS in Rwanda, at King Faisal Hospital in Kigali on 5th August 2021.
